Tayab Waseem claims that he was a cofounder in Stability AI and that the company has reneged on its promise of a 10% stake in the London-based AI startup. Stability AI rose to prominence in 2022 when users flooded its Stable Diffusion program, generating images of everything from hyperrealistic portraits to fantasy landscapes. Stability AI raised an undisclosed amount from Intel in October 2023. Waseem joined Stability AI when the cofounders, Mostaque and Hodes, were launching a project called CAIAC, which used AI to combat COVID-19, Waseem told BI. AdvertisementAccording to the filing, Stability AI had not paid him a formal salary due to cash flow problems, instead promising him 10% in equity interest.

She also landed clerkships with two federal judges — Judge Corey Maze, a federal district judge in Alabama, and Judge William Pryor, an influential appellate judge. Last year, a federal judicial panel ordered that an investigation take place into whether Clanton actually sent the texts. After finishing law school, Clanton clerked for Maze, a federal judge in Anniston, Alabama from 2022 to 2023. If you want to be happy in life, especially as you age, "you have to look at other things besides dreams." Instead, it can mean reorienting yourself towards finding joy in small things, in what you can control and in wanting what you already have. But the work can pay off: Positivity is linked to a longer and healthier life. Small things delight her on a daily basis: Listening to books on tape, taking careful walks, old movies on TV, a scoop of ice cream after dinner. She reminds herself that "everyone has things that don't work out," and that what matters is resilience — being "capable of adjusting your thoughts and dreams."

The complex interplay between the transition, policy, economic performance and consumer preferences have made it harder than ever to forecast gasoline demand. Since then, the post-pandemic transition to a hybrid workplace has cut fuel demand for commuting. With the difficulty of predicting where gasoline demand goes from here, the EIA has revised its forecast several times this year. In January, it pegged demand this year at 8.74 million bpd, a fall from 8.76 million bpd last year. JPMorgan estimates that efficiency gains and EV sales wiped around 100,000 bpd from gasoline demand last year.

The cofounder of Stability AI dumped his stake for $100 just months before the company hit a $1 billion valuation. The firm has sought a $4 billion valuation more recently, and Hodes' shares would have been worth over $500 million on that basis, he said in a lawsuit. The cofounder of artificial-intelligence startup Stability AI took a massive notional loss — when he dumped his 15% stake for a mere $100 just months before the company hit a $1 billion valuation. The suit is "without merit" and Stability AI will "aggressively defend our position," the company said in emailed comments. Stability AI, which is known for developing the open-source, text-to-image generator Stable Diffusion, was founded in 2020 and quickly rose to fame for its text-to-image product.

Hodes, a self-described "world-renowned thought leader" in artificial intelligence, said Stability AI and Mostaque also never revealed their talks with venture capital firms before Mostaque bought his stake in October 2021 and May 2022. Stability AI said in an email: "The suit is without merit and we will aggressively defend our position." He said he had worked "countless hours" since early 2020 at Stability AI, including on an ultimately unsuccessful project to help governments respond faster to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stability AI describes itself as the "world's leading open source generative AI company," whose technology is open to the public, as opposed to at closed source companies. In May, the stock photo provider Getty Images asked a London court to stop Stability AI from selling its image-generation system in Britain, citing alleged copyright violations.

More than 20 years have elapsed since the attacks in Bali and Jakarta killed more than 200 people, seven of them Americans. The three men have been in U.S. custody for nearly two decades, starting in C.I.A. But the lawyers and judge are still trying to figure out what portions of the proceedings are supposed to be secret. Secrecy permeates the proceedings like no other American court. It is enough time for prosecutors to signal to a court security officer, who is schooled in C.I.A.

And I'd say, 'Because I'm old?' Sweedler, who lives in a retirement home in Connecticut, is proud of the way she's retained her faculties: "I don't talk like an old lady." It probably helps that she doesn't think of herself that way: "I don't feel that I'm old," says Sweedler, who turned 103 in December. "I don't feel old, that's the truth." Main Street could find itself stuck in gridlock next year in terms of advancing pro-business tax objectives. For House Republicans, legislative priorities are likely to include extending business-friendly provisions of The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed by the Trump Administration in 2017. Even so, a divided Congress means that major pro-business legislative changes will be difficult to enact. Rather, tax and policy professionals expect House Republicans to focus on a number of positioning moves next year — ones that will establish their pro-business agenda ahead of the 2024 presidential election. "There are a host of provisions in the tax code that businesses would like to see changed or revised," said Rochelle Hodes, a principal in Crowe's Washington National Tax office.
